Following the Bargue Figure Drawing Course, participants will continue to develop their block-in skills with the introduction of three-dimensional construction. This class is designed to guide students as they transition from an approach that emphasizes the arrangement of flat shapes to a practice that allows for sensitivity to spatial awareness. Ideas encompassing the plasticity of planes as well as the delineation of lights and shadows will be discussed as a means to create a convincing sense of volume before rendering. In a period of six sessions, students will complete three block-ins from historical figures while continuing to implement methods of comparative measurement, triangulation, gesture, and structure.

Each class students will have individual critiques as well as live demonstrations by the instructor.

This class is a prerequisite for Level 3: Master Copy Rendering. Students should check in with their instructor before advancing to the next class.
