In this workshop students will develop a figure painting, working from a live model, over the course of a single 2-week pose. This process will cover each step in creating a naturalistic figure painting, from initial block-in, to transferring the drawing onto canvas, to rendering form in oil paint. Concepts such as gesture, proportion, composition, color space, and turning form, as well as important structural landmarks of the figure, will all be covered. Throughout the workshop, instructors will provide demonstrations and personal critiques and may reference historical masterworks. It is recommended that artists have some experience painting with oils.
